A Date In The South Side & On The Cheap!

If you’re in the mood for some traditional “movie-dinner-drinks” date action, but you’re working on a budget, try this suggestion.

Start your date off in the early afternoon on either Saturday or Sunday with a matinee at South Side Works Cinema. Earlier shows will get you their discounted admission price of $6.75.

Time it so your movies ends a bit before dinner. If you get out before 5:00pm, do some strolling and window shopping. At 5:00, head down East Carson Street to The Library. No, not the library, library…THE Library! It’s a great little bar/restaurant with a super neat “novel” theme. The decor has a libray vibe and all the food items take their names from famous authors and well known books. There’s quaint wood work, a mantle, and exposed brick to add to the ambiance. The place is already affordable, but we’re going to let you in on a little deal here. If you go between 5-7pm or 9-11pm ANY day of the week, you get half off all appetizers, and every beer on their draft menu is just $3.00, even the tasty craft brews. Try the Where the Wild Things Are hand breaded chicken tenders or Wings of Icarus with Buffalo Blue sauce!

When you’re done with drinks and dinner, head back up to South Side Works and split a piece of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory for dessert. (Around $9.00 with tip.) A decadent ending to a great date!

Your whole date rings in at just over $40 total for two!
